Another advantage of using ITM poots is there's no uptick rule to contend with if it's moving fast. Unlikely that would pay for the drubbing you get handed on the spread, though....

Based on the bid and ask for the stock and the puts at various times this morning, it would have been cheaper to buy the puts (negative premium) than short the stock. Obviously it was a fast market, but the puts were slow to sell even with no premium.
