"I for one am going to suggest to IR that Eli begin his CC remarks the way he ended them last Q, talking about how analysts don't understand what they sell, only a couple of other companies make their highest density flash, and there is no way supply will catch up with demand for years."

Jay, I think that is a fantastic idea. [But hopefully the first remarks will be along the lines of "another record quarter".] Then, as you state, they could follow up with some general remarks about specific characteristics that set SanDisk apart from the remainder of the flash field. I find that Eli has this habit of sounding upset when he has to explain the basics. I think that SNDK management has to realize that some analysts have a relatively superficial understanding of where SanDisk fits in within the spectrum of flash products that are "out there". Perhaps his presentation would be better received if he could somehow outline the misconceptions in the market place and follow up with a statement defining SanDisk's target markets and the issue of supply/demand you mention. There is nothing like supportive independent market surveys to emphasize this point.

>>...IMHO there is an institution bailing. <<

If so, it could be part of a general rotation out of semiconductors and into other market segments. If this is the case, there is little anyone can do but ride it out. They will be back.

The trick is to figure out where the bottom is. I don't think we are there yet. Perhaps in the mid $60's as we prepare for a Christmas run-up.
