The local paper had an article on broadband options for consumers (cable and DSL). They indicated that there is continuing high demand for broadband with long lead times for installation fairly common. Pricing is about the same. Here's part of it:

"Since most people have a phone line already, DSL subscriber numbers are expected to skyrocket. In March, 570,000 households in the US had DSL service, according to Lisa Pierce, an analyst at Cambridge-based Giga Information Group. Numbers are expected to jump to 15 million subscribers by 2005."

The article goes on to describe deployment issues (C.O. proximity issues, multiple visits, finger-pointing between RBOC's and CLEC's) that have presented challenges to rolling out DSL. Solutions like NHC's that can help accelerate deployment and enable faster provisioning of a broader array of services have got to be an attractive proposition that should be able to show a fast return on investment.
