But Jon. You don't have Hillary running for Senate in your State.

At least Slick was subtle enough not to give it all to New York, lol. Besides which region has more often voted along liberal democrat lines the NE or the SW? Plus, Bush's political power base is also from the SW. And finally which region and state is HQ for almost every major TV network? I rest my case<G>.

Truth is Clinton can do almost anything and get away with it. Lame duck presidents are usually weak and ineffective. But look at this poor excuse for a human being let alone statesman. Congress is scared to death to take him on whether it's the budget or anything else.

We've had strong economies before but not even Reagan wielded as much political power with only a few months left in his final term. So what has changed in the past 20 years that might explain this??!

The answer: As long as the Democrats have the major New York based TV networks ideologically in their pocket there will be little coverage of government misdeeds and corruption. So the Clinton/Gore agenda even in the final months of this admin will get support from the overwhelmingly dominant source of news, analysis and commentary that far more Americans rely on than ever before.

I'm willing to bet that a small minority of Americans actually read anything other than traffic signs, the sports section or romance novels on a regular basis.

To get their window on the "real world"? It's turn on the TUBE. And with the sole exception of the FOX network, major network executives, editors and reporters have been voting democratic by large majorities for decades. And during that period, as people have come to rely less on newspapers and magazines, the political power of those TV "opinion makers" and those they give their political allegance to has increased enormously.

So as things stand now. Any government funds, resources, offices or staff are at the personal disposal of the Clintons and Gore and they're taking full advantage of that.
Not even gross violations of campaign financing laws have mattered in recent years.

I can still remember during the later Eisenhower admin how Sherman Adams accepting a Vicuna Coat was a scandal that stayed in the news day and night, week after week. Now major violations of the law, dangerous breaches of national security and all kinds of personal scandals are edited to reduce emotional impact and blandly discussed by analysts or reporters even public interest lasts more than a few days. Critics usually receive less air time on talk shows and defenders more often than not get the first and the last word. This was particularly apparent during Impeachment coverage. Make no mistake, politically the deck is stacked increasingly in favor of the left during the past 20 years.

Getting back to the 400 million bucks in give always to the NE states. Don't feel bad, Jon. You're not the only one left out "in the cold". Haven't heard about much help for us Mid-Westerners and our giant soon to arrive NG bills.

Maybe my family and I should be thankful we live in cen Ohio and not the northern upper plains states, Wisconsin or Minnesota. It's gonna be tough up there.

Well it's the weekend and I'm rambled too long as it is.

Cheers
