I was reading some of the reaction to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve move late Friday and had a few thoughts:

--Most oil and gas stocks will probably take a ding on Monday. But will that last? I doubt it.

--Someone pointed out that US refiners only have about 500K barrels per day of spare capacity. So in a perfect world, the system can't take another million barrels every day. And you can't add refinery capacity overnight.

--This won't affect natural gas, which fires most power plants now and supplies a lot of winter heat. Looks like a good entry point for anyone not already in NG stocks.

We'll see if I'm right. But this does not smell like a fundamental turning point in the oil patch.
