Ya gotta love the sweaters he wore on his Christmas shows. ctg and I were flipping channels the other day and happened on a horrific, mesmerizing sight: what seemed like dozens of robotic lacquered grinning goyim marching and singing patriotic propaganda in lockstep to godawful bland oompah music. turned out it was a clip from an old July 4 Lawrence Welk special, c. early 60's, I believe, that was being shown on PBS as part of a Welk reunion show. Truly one of the most terrifying things either of us had ever seen.
