Interesting points from both you and Vendit. Where's the money going to come from? The other side of that coin is the compelling nature of the technology. I don't personally know anyone under the age of say, 60, who has a cell phone and doesn't use it with increasing frequency. Its one of those gizmos where you just shake your head and say "sheesh, how did I ever get along without one." So, while I can see it might take a long time for Microwave ovens and HDTV to take off in China, I'm not so sure about cell phones.

When I was a teenager I just "had to have" that Stones or Zeppelin LP and when I was even younger I just "had to have" the latest Superman comic. I dunno how I scraped together the money, but I always managed to do so. If I were a teenager now, I'd have to have a cell phone and Internet access. Most adults feel the same way once they have used either.

Maybe the cell phone companies will cut special deals just to get the products used. Who knows? What I'm sure about is that they will be used. What I'm less sure about (to your and Vendit's point) is how they will make money doing so in the near term. But I bet someone figures it out.

The other thing not talked about in this regard is the potential of the cell phone to change the culture and politics of China.
