>>As for the candle not being bullish, coming at this point in the downtrend, it should at least get one thinking that
there is a possible change in trend, if you were to flip the chart upside down and that candle was showing at the
possible end of an uptrend would you be saying that the candle wasn't bearish??<<

Good question! V good

Flyguy,

Firstly, It appears that you may be misinterpreting my post since I am now biased to the long side as mentioned in my index update. My comments on the candlestics were simply text book interpretations and I did mention that they were imperfect. So if you check the following site: litwick.com you will notice the imperfect "ON NECK" pattern on the NDX and the imperfect "THRUSTING" pattern on the QQQ. Of course if you are using different definitions thats another story, and I didnt say that to be confrontational since I showed those definitions to an old-timer who used candlestics in the RICE/SPICE trade in CHINA, my grand uncle, and his response was "NOla, NOla, NOla!!!!" Which meant, BAHH or USELESS!!!! gggggggggg

To answer your question concerning strickly CANDLESTICs, the reverse pattern would be BULLISH NOT BEARISH per the textbook. There are several candlestic patterns which end in a BLACK day with implies BULLISHNESS, like a "SANDWICH, THREE LINE STRIKE, TASUKI GAP. Candlesticks often give contrarian positions, if they are read properly. Thats not to say candlestics work all the time either.

So my comments were not towards the market, just pure candlestic interpretation.
