Uh, I think we're operating in parallel universes. There is obviously value in driving one's own car in terms of convenience and liberty; this correlates well with the concept I described, and they are therefore consistent with each other.

As for your latter question, the answer is that eventually there will be enough bandwidth to deliver all the services we want. It's just a question of intermediate technologies until then.
