So in your world the Sun (that star on which we rely) is extinguished each evening and reignited each morning? How many centuries back does THAT take us?

...claiming that MSFT is crap due to reboots. --- No way! Rebooting is Windows' best feature! --- You're onto something though. If they'd make 'reboot' into a configurable event, that'd be a worthwhile innovation. Why they never thought of that, I don't know. You should contact them. Really! -JCJ

Could be the Ultrasparc II machine cache problem that's been reported lately? Last I read, Sun had no fix for it. Seems like Sun stock walks on the water no matter what these days though.

Reports about Windows 2000 are that it's robust, the best Microsoft OS ever (probably by far). Not one problem on my PC in the six months I've been using it. The Intel based server platforms it runs on also have a solid record. Someone ought to be beating the drum more about this solid combo. The OEMs, MSFT, INTC must be laying low lately.

DUMB are the people who have designed, developed, sold, bought and use an OS that needs to reboot itself ever so often.

Anyone who wants a shade of reliability goes miles away from MICROSLOP.

BTW, if your system did not reboot by now and you are stuck - try CTRL + ALT + DEL
