there are some things that you can read about forever but never really appreciate emotionally until you experience them yourself

I've always thought it's a mild form of arrogance to think that we can ever appreciate anything we haven't experienced ourselves. Not having experienced it, we can be sympathetic about it, mad about it, or whatever, but we can't fully appreciate it until we've experienced it.

If you think I'm wrong, tell your wife you appreciate what she went through with her pregnancy and childbirth. Be sure to let us know how far you fly across the room when she hits you.
