I am not commenting in either direction about what may or may not have happened in your life prior to today. I am simply looking at the way that you phrased your statement.

I used the particular example because it is common in cases of post traumatic stress syndrome and people that have had near death experiences to adopt a policy of "never lying". In the book and subsequent movie "Fearless", this behavior is addressed.
