<For all these precautions, Telstra cannot guarantee that calls will not connect at peak moments.

"Mobile service is one of the most visible contributions we're making to the Games, but also the most vulnerable," Mr. Pilbeam said. "There will be massive spikes in usage that no network in the world can handle."

Wacky Wireless can do it! Incidentally, Motorola got a patent in 1993 for using a price displayed on a cellphone to dissuade further calls to avoid overloading a cellphone system. So, somebody else also thought it wasn't such a bad idea. But on the other hand, they had the idea of Iridium too. But on the other hand, they had the intelligence to sign up for CDMA in 1989. But on the other hand, members.tripod.com they stuck with analogue and were slow to realize how big CDMA would be. But they were stupid enough to steal a plastic housing and try to sue QUALCOMM.

Jon, I will refrain from making a big speech!

PS: PCStel, you could check your barrel at the airport.

81 posts today, starting from yours Geoff. This is starting to look like QUALCOMM before the excitement. I haven't been counting, but if we go back a year, hang on, I'll make a graph of Globalstar posts.

x = 1000
. = 500

Cumulative To
Jun1996-40 [SI lost them between May and Sep]
Dec1996-52 [SI lost them between May and Sep]
Jun1997-175
Dec1997-339 + 230 [old stream which went biotic + new stream]
Jun1998-xx
Dec1998-xxx

Dec1999-xxxxxxxxx.
Jun Y2K-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Dec Y2K-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx[estimate from 18,000 25 Sept]

Going back to April 1996 to see who entered when:

Don Limb, first poster, a Texan, missing a trigger finger, is still hangin' in there. Go Don!! Get them Dove varmints. I hear it's raining after a long dry spell. They seem common in Texas.

Johnnie Memmonic still in Buy Range in July.
Ramsey Su, never convinced that G! would make Q! look small but there in April 96 and still here, dabbling gently.
Scott Zion here 12 July Y2K, entered Nov96
Reagan DuBose here 12 August still, entered Jan97
Duncan Moyer April 97 and last posted 31 Jul00
Quincy Jun97 and still in Q! [hi Quincy - how's the dishwasher?]
Beefeater Jun97 and still around, last seen here in June
Pierre appears 27 Jun97 - hang in their mate!
Jack Jackson Jul97 still around in July00 and now I guess?
Jim Parkinson Jul97 and a very early bigtime G! supporter with Pierre. We are starting to move into the present.
Mr A arrived Jul97 and we hit mainstream.
A 7 minute investor arrived 15Aug97 and is STILL here. Yay VMan!
Snowshoe 26Aug97 and right here, right now...yes, you! Hi there...time to get the snowshoes and snow shovels out.

Then, switcheroo to the New Stream and the crowding started...

JP [Jim Power] came in first...gidday Jim [still here 6 weeks ago].
Stealthy next and still here 4 weeks ago [pleased to see Gregg Powers, with 2GGs - not George Gotch, George Gilder or the Globalstar Gang etc etc]
METMAN Oct97 and still here...[I'm just getting those still around]
brian h Oct97 and managing our China division [not getting CDMA running there very well though Brian...come on now, move it along please]
apologies to those I overlooked.

Anyway, you get the picture and I'm sick of it now.

The rest of you are Johny-come-lately whipper-snappers, still wet behind the ears. I bet you feel you've been around forever though. [Edit: I just saw your post PCSTEL, <Interesting statement!! I think you've finally got it!!> Really? Yes, you're wet behind ears too. I've finally got it have I?<gg> Have to go read your post now...]

Hang in there folks. Next stock, I'm going to get in at the last minute. Wait for the tornado or something [though $3 in 1995 to $10 now is still better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick so there's plenty to be said for early].

Now we just need the MOU graph to do the same. I guess that will mean we have a 3 year wait. Be patient.

Mqurice [7 Year Investor]

PS: SI profits must be following a similar graph [for the G! stream anyway] = paid per page view.

PCSTEL, yeah, all wet. See my rants about service providers and pricing from before you were born. [Not really trying to be rude...just razzing you a bit] ...it's negotiate, not negociate...
