grayhairs/dad: I'd partly reconcile your different POV by
suggesting that, within very broad limits, it is up to the company what is material information, BUT the company ought to be subject to regulatory/legal action if it gives the analyst "community" or others information while saying there's no need for contemporaneous disclosure to shareholders because it isn't "material." It's the 21st century, folks. Electronic press releases are easy.

I'm largely with grayhairs on these issues, but I see no reasoned justification for a company being permitted to privately disseminate information to certain investors (or analysts as proxies for investors) while saying that same information isn't "material" enough to go directly to the (retail) public. They shouldn't be able to have it both ways.

I know disclosure issues arise in far more complex situations, such as needed disclosure to bankers for financing, to possible buyers, to JV partners, etc. However, that it can be hard to draw the line doesn't doesn't diminish the very obvious simplicity of drawing the line regarding even-handed disclosure to retail investors and brokers/financial houses, outside the context of a financing.

I don't like our nanny state, but this is one area where simple justice should yield only one right answer, except for people whose success or income is built on trading upon insider knowledge.

Taken from my post on SH last evening (with some additions):

To grayhairs, on Silicon Investor, let me say that your postings have been both entertaining and of tremendous information value to me over the past 18 months and I look forward to your explanations and OPINIONS in the future. In no way did I think you were attacking me personally but I was surprized at the "passion" you displayed, in your comments :o) .

As I've already stated, I will continue to post whatever information I can find/ share with both threads (SH and SI) and invite debate/ discussion on each one. After all, I'm invested in 4 companies, in ELH, to MAKE MONEY......not to be right. **ggg** The quality of information and explanations shared, on these threads, should help me reach that goal. JMHOBWTHDIK

Grayhairs, it's been a long summer. It's great to have you back and posting. Hopefully, over the next 10-20 days you will share your thoughts on BKP#1, BKP#2, BKP#3 and where you feel we are headed. I won't buy/sell on your opinions alone but I will include them in my personal analysis.

As always,

Good fortune to ALL ELH INVESTORS!
Good health to ALL ELH DRILLING RIG CREWS!

PS- I hope that someday I'll have the pleasure of meeting you and perhaps making a dollar or two (American :o) ) golfing down south at the ELH party. You still got the 'yips'? **gg*

PSS- Stockhouse thread contains some very informative posters. Spend an hour and read it. Some goofs drop by but there are some very serious investors now posting. Open your mind SI thread. This "bubble" we are all under, is a little small. Remember, there are goofs on this thread too (thanks for getting me here Check **ggg). Reading Rammone17, SurferJoe and many others, will change your opinion, I hope. Remember, both threads want the same thing...success.
