Noting is new about Intel trying to move into new chip sectors - it has been trying to do so for several years. I don't see the opportunities in other chips that will fuel growth. Intel will make strides into the high-end workstation and server markets with the Itanium but that often delayed effort is questionable. I don't see how they will prevent AMD from entering the low-mid range server markets without devastating their fat margins. The space needs competition and AMD is the only firm poised to enter it with an X86 compatible product.
