Allan,

In my opinion, the smart money is now leaving Intel and dumb money is pouring in.

They are going to have a very difficult 4-5 quarters.

Looking at their top and bottom lines, it's no secret that the business has fat margins due to the monopolistic prices of high end processors. This is the first time someone has really put a dent in that market.

Pentium4, which will be out in a month, will initially crippled by Rambus only chipsets. This is going to backfire bigtime because the Dramurai are refusing to make Rambus memory. An alternative chipset isn't scheduled to appear until late next year, making P4 a low volume product for the next year. As evidenced by the 1.13 Ghz recall, the old Pentium has topped out in Mhz.

This leaves Intel in a "black hole" in the high end where it has thrived for the past decade. It's only going to get worse for them.

I don't think they have enough MU left to prop up earnings for another 4-5 quarters.
