Vman, Why aren't the SPs paying up? Is the contract structured such that they only have to pay out of gateway revenues or something? (Or some length of time after a plan milestone? gg)

Do they get a choice? Couple million or tens of millions. I know which one I would select.

It appears as if the July sought after distancing of G* from LOR is on plan, having started with the different CC dates. LOR's stock keeps going down, while G*'s keeps going up. I can live with this.

Does Volvo's integration of ORBCOMM (what a deal they must have gotten!) into their automobile communications system make it more or less likely that Wingcast will eventually adopt G*?

<Why should an entity that is circling the drain financially finance gateways for multi-billion dollar, financially stable service providers? > I suppose because the service providers could get them to do it when they negotiated the agreements. They won't pay it back until they have to.

The original agreements would have been an 'assume the risk' type deal. The service providers were presumably more doubtful of the scheme and needed some deals to get them to act as service providers. Globalstar was more comfortable with the level of risk than the service providers were, and so were QUALCOMM and Loral. That's why Loral and QUALCOMM now own the bulk of Globalstar [other than GSTRF people].

Okay, we are now carrying that debt, but we own a big chunk of Globalstar. If the service providers don't perform, we'll own some gateways too and we'll step straight into the service provider business with a system with a cost basis per minute of around 10c. We should be able to take some business at 20c a minute retail. Or even 40c a minute retail.

The latest bit of funding shows that service providers think the shares are worth at least $10. It shows customers that more money arrives so they don't need to have worry about the system going out of business. It shows shorts that they are going to have to wait quite a lot longer before they can cover at $0. My guess is that they'll lose patience - if they don't lose patience, they will lose equanimity when MOUs start relentlessly rising. They'll then lose their composure. Lastly they'll lose their money.
