dave:

The AMD story is driectly tied to the Athy's success. Any continuation in the incremental trend in Athys from 400,000, 600,000, 800,000 and from total shipments of 800,000 to 1.2 million to 1.8 million to 2.6 million in Q1, Q2 qnd Q3 respectively has to be considered acceptable performance, given the positive profit implications from increasing ASP's as the transition from K6 to K7 unfolds...Anything above incremental Q3 Athys of 800,000 or Q3 shipments of 2.6 million Athys would have to be a positive confirmation of Athy's growing acceptance in the marketplace all other things equal...Obviously K6 shipments are falling off and as a result, it'd be nice if Q3 incremental Athys could exceed 800,000 to offset the revenue shortfall from declining K6 sales...Incremental Q3 Athys of 1.2 million (i.e 3 million units) will do wonders for AMD's profit and revenue picture, while incremental Athys of 1.8 million, as I have said before will likely signal escape velocity for the AMD price...
