RESEARCH ALERT-Network Appliance cut to buy

NEW YORK, Sept 25 (Reuters) - WIT Soundview said analyst Glen Ingalls cut his rating on storage software maker Network Appliance Inc. <NTAP.O> to buy from strong buy on Monday.

-- in report, kept earnings estimates unchanged.

-- "Current quarter business is strong, prospects for the network attached storage market remain bright and we think NTAP will remain the space's strongest player.

-- "At 42x leading revenue however, the stock presents too much downside exposure relative to its upside potential for us to remain strong buyers here."

-- said would "return as aggressive buyers" with shares at $100.

-- shares off $3-3/8 at $144.

Wit downgrades to Buy from Strong Buy. Should an investor then mail in his check (buy) to purchase NTAP as opposed to handing it directly to the broker(strong buy)? These ratings are silly.....for those who must follow them.
