I agree, but these cultural things are complex. Intel was able to succeed despite this "paranoid survival" culture. I think (my guess) is that Moore quite cunningly used this paranoia - good cop / bad cop routine - to keep the passions burning.

For this to work, the good cop has to be stronger than the bad cop.

If Craig Barrett were able to get rid of all the bad cops, that wouldn't be good for Intel either.

My opinion is that AMD's bad cop, (Sanders), does not have a good cop to right things when things go wrong at AMD.
