JC, All

intel did a great favor to amd by lowering amd's expectations
right before the earning release :-))
It is too bad that not all of them revised it downwards

Re:"I'm sure that the whisper number will inexplicably leap to $0.91 on October 11th, 3:59pm"

There are currently 63 whispers, so it would take a large campaign of "experts" to mathematically raise the whisper number that high. I wouldn't put it past the consensus to raise their $.62 number in order to minimize their surprise. Didn't the consensus raise their 2Q number (pre-tax) with a week or two to go (I think from 1.07 to 1.14, pre-split)?
