I discussed that here a week or two ago. The Microsoft program that was supposed to indicate whether my machine was compatible with W2K wouldn't run, so unless they want to send me a free trial copy, I'm going to abstain. Maybe I'll eventually go play with it at Best Buy (if they ever have a demo machine running it). I've seen bugs in Solaris, too, but I don't personally recall any that brought the system down hard (but I don't doubt they're out there) -- telnet in from another machine, kill the offending process, and you're on your way again. With Windows, rebooting seems much higher on the list of possible remedial activities -- often even CTRL-ALT-DEL is inoperative, and even when that works, the offending part of the system often can't be stopped and restarted, because it's "integrated" and doesn't show up as a separate process. JMHO.
