Not sure if that Shell discovery is that big. 560MMB might be marginal at 5000 ft and 81 miles out. Sounds like huge development costs. How do they come up with such a precise size prior to confirmation?

Anyone have an idea about what they MEANT to say in the second paragraph?

Shell's Brazilian arm hit oil at 1,654 meters in the Campos Basin's BC-10 block, 81 miles (130 km) off the coast of Espirito Santo state. The field would be a significant discovery if confirmed, the daily said.

Vice president of exploration and production Phil Hanson told the paper that he expected the block to approximate production in the Gulf of Mexico with 10-15 million barrels per day.

Even 1.0 - 1.5MMBD would be a lot from from a 560MMB field. Gee, if we were doing 10-15MMBD in the Gulf, people wouldn't be so mad at Bill and Al.<g>

Anyone know what kind of infrastructure exists for Campos Basin development and who might benefit from a big build-up?
