I caught that too.

Seemed a little desperate(if they can't keep to that). I believe he mentioned a % increase that sounded a bit over optimistic, but the number escapes me now.

Reminds me of a comment I heard a SUNW official made today...it was something along the lines of:

we are going to continue to grow our earnings regardless of the worlds economic climate

I'm glad my job isn't to put numbers out to the public as either an analyst or a company spokes person.

Bambs, you don't have to take me seriously. I give forecasts for fun, because ultimately no one really believes them. But I didn't give a blind forecast. I stated my assumptions clearly. In addition, I made that particular comment, because I think a 30-50% return in one year is a phenomenally great return, but I know the new generation of investors will think that is ridiculously low.

Anyway, I still think my forecast will prove itself out, but I wouldn't blame you if you completely ignore my prediction. Of course, as part of my assumptions, I believe the oil crisis will be brought under control, that the Fed may decrease interest rates in the next 6 months, that the Euro's malaise will find relief, and that telecom spending will continue unabated because they have to in order to survive. Prove me wrong on any of those assumptions and then my forecast begins to fall apart. But then that's why forecasts are so fun.

BTW, when you give a downward forecast, try giving us a list of reasons why you believe Cisco will lose 30% of its value and we'll probably listen and debate with you. Otherwise, you ruffle feathers. Enough said on this topic.

Bambs,

I think that if someone makes a statement that you don't agree with you should challenge them to produce supporting evidence. I think the thread is a place to share opinions and opinions should be challenged regardless of whether they are bullish or bearish. That said, it's always fun to guess and if someone is making a guess - a pure WAG - then it should be couched as such and accepted as such.

Dear Bambs: That SUNW official was none other than Scott McNeally himself. I have been in that stock for a long time and have read every public statement Scott has made that I could find. I will tell you this, if he says it YOU CAN BANK ON IT!! Incidentally, he went on to explain WHY people would continue to buy their products regardless of market conditions. Finally, considering they had 42% revenue growth LAST QTR. and the fact this quarter is NEARLY OVER, I, as a long term shareholder, took his comments to be A HINT to us NOT TO SELL as this is going to be another record bustin qtr.
