Senator McCain played a key role in getting a friend of mine out of Afghanistan who was being held prisoner by the Soviets.

He is a war hero, and a very honest man. I would have voted for him had he been nominated.

Tim, I liked McCain, but his record is quite conservative. I don't know why you think conservatives wouldn't have supported him. He took a lot of flack about campaign finance reform from the $70million "reformer with results", but that's a fairly narrow issue. W has now moved on to other alliterative slogans, I hear.
