Thanks for your response. First thought, Re: "As far as I know, most religions in the world prescribe how one should live his/her life.. It amounts to: 1) Do not covet what is not yours.. 2) Help your fellow human beings.. 3) Live a life of honesty and integrity.." How about this one: Love and serve God. That's a big one for followers of Jesus. In fact, it's probably bigger than the three you mentioned. Second thought: The problem with basing redemption (i.e., "going to heaven") on being a "good person" is that everyone has faults. Unfortunately, we have all been (are?) spiteful or hurtful to others at times. Thus, the concept of redemption by works, or by just plain being good, always runs into the question of "How good must one be?" I don't think there is anyone "good" enough to be saved (i.e., "go to heaven") based on his/her own works or attitudes. Best wishes, I2

You gotta understand the concept, Sultan. You can be a murderer or a rapist and ya still go to the front of the line, by confessing that you belief in Jesus. God doesn't care about all His revelation to His other flocks. Simply living a good moral life carries no Ultimate weight with God. This earns you no points. You will still be tortured for all eternity in Hell. Sorry, every bastard that ever wrote a bad cheque or murdered a child is gonna walk right past ya. And their face will have a vicious sneer when they tell ya: "a--hole--you're in the wrong line". If you don't believe me, Sultan, you can go to Hell. God will give ya a new body (after yours is turned to rose bushes),just so He can torture you forever. Nothing like being logical, creative, and compassionate. He will give you your old brain back too (where your memory is lodged in a biochemical matrix). You need to know you done wrong by using the mind and the heart that He gave you to live what you most honestly believed was a good life. I have been learning about this stuff so I'm a good one to ask if you are confused. I'm also going to Hell, even though I live a moral life. I will be the guy screaming in the high c. Its a concept that only the most perfect and compassionate being could think up. I couldn't have dreamed such a wonderful scenario up in a thousand years--I'm just not good enough.
