crap I lost my NTLDR ! I don't have a boot disk...win2000 doesn't run from dos...what do I do?

From NTLDR any operating system can be loaded and successfully installed as long as a copy of the operating systems boot sector program resides in a file pointed to by BOOT.INI (more about BOOT.INI later).

I got my old win98 start disk and can get a prompt?

search for boot.ini? how do I do that? try to start win98? c: dir/w/p

c: find boot.ini....so much for that idea...?

must be able to get windows started from dos prompt somehow...not familiar w/ win2K

crap! screwed up this time<g>

Thanks for the insight. I also tried to load the broker's proprietary software first to see if the order of loading will make any difference, it did. I was able to squeeze out a 5% increase of free resource. Giving this scenario, does it mean this proprietary software still hog up memory?

I noticed one interesting thing just now when I was trying to reload all the programs again while watching the resource monitor and the Taskinfo2000 monitor. When I loaded Mytrack program which the Taskinfo2000 showed a "Total KB" of 18,816, the resource monitor showed a reduction of 18% free resource! Whoa! Coincidence? I then loaded the broker's proprietary software (in different order this time) which the Taskinfo2000 showed a "Total KB" of 17,548, Lo and Behold! the resource monitor showed another reduction of 18%.

I'm tempted to think that this is as simple as adding more memory. What do you think?

Thanks again for the feedback.
