Jeff,

How did all this initally come about? Did you get this error message after a normal reboot? Or did you accidentally delete the NTLDR file?

If you didn't delete the file, then you probably have more the just one corrupt file.

Before you try and copy over the NTLDR file to C:\ from the CD-ROM in DOS, use this command.

attrib -r -s c:\ntldr

Then copy over the file. The above takes the read only attribute and system file attribute off of the file.

Once you do get to the point of a full recovery look in to getting Norton Ghost from symantec.com. This program will be able to make a complete copy of your system. In the event of crash you can copy your image file you create back to the hard drive. The program works from DOS, so all you would need to do would be boot up with a Win98 Start Disk, while making sure to load CD-ROM drivers. Then put in the CD-ROM that you burned your image to and then start Norton Ghost up from a disk. 15 minutes later you have a complete OS again. I know that don't help you now, but it will save you a lot of time in the future.
