ATML Anyone have any idea why it's been so weak lately?

Unfortunately, I think this is why:

Semis ($SOX) 880.36 -46.17 -4.98% Broke August low support barely. 821 was spring lows.

It's killing KOPN and other semi-related stocks too.

But ATML, what a great entry price for a long term hold.

(COMTEX) B: Atmel Comments On Euro and PC-Related End Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sep 26, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Atmel Corporation
(Nasdaq:ATML) commented today that it believes its business prospects remain
strong. The Company also commented that it believes its financial results will
not be materially impacted by the current weakness in the Euro, as a large
percentage of Atmel's sales in Europe are U.S. dollar based. Additionally, with
four manufacturing sites in Europe, a substantial amount of Atmel's business
costs in Europe are based in Euros, translating into a lower U.S. dollar cost to
Atmel. George Perlegos, Atmel's President and Chief Executive Officer,
commented, "We believe that Atmel's large amount of U.S. dollar-based sales and
Euro-based costs act as a natural hedge against fluctuations in the value of the
Euro and the U.S. dollar. Additionally, we believe that any speculation
concerning weakness in the PC sector does not translate into a material adverse
impact to Atmel's near-term financial results as demand for Atmel products is
widely spread across many end markets, and we see exceptional strength across
all of our product lines."

Founded in 1984, Atmel Corporation is headquartered in San Jose, California with
principal manufacturing facilities in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Irving, Texas,
Grenoble, Nantes and Rousset, France and Heilbronn, Germany. Atmel designs,
manufactures and markets on a worldwide basis advanced logic, mixed-signal,
nonvolatile memory, and RF semiconductors. Atmel is also a leading provider of
system-level integration semiconductor solutions using advanced CMOS, BiCMOS,
BiPolar and SiGe process technologies.

into volume, industry wide shifts in supply and demand for semiconductor
products, industry overcapacity, effective and cost efficient utilization of
manufacturing capacity, financial stability in foreign markets, ability to
integrate and manage acquisitions, and other risks detailed from time to time in
the Atmel's SEC reports and filings.
