This curriculum thing really drives home the point. --- The 'digital divide' is almost a red herring. --- Cutting right to the chase as McNealy often does, the real issue is about having meaningful content to deliver. -JCJ

Old economy lays cable, new economy provides the service. The problems in Australia lies with its people. From my experiences they are mentally still into laying cable rather than providing services. But they haven't shown the level of desire to maintain a thriving service/consulting community. All Crocodile Dundee needs is his trusty knife...

I base this view on my many trips to Australia looking for a high tech service/consulting job (I was hoping for a change of scenery from Bay Area). As it stands my best plan for moving to Australia is to sell all of my assets and start a sapphire mine in northern NSW. Not a high tech profession.
