Shaw Twenty years ago, Rogan was an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, the product of a family incomprehensibly different from his own today. The son of an unmarried cocktail waitress, Rogan grew up first with his grandmother and longshoreman grandfather in San Francisco, then with a great aunt, who died when he was in eighth grade.
