Paul,

The legend that AMD has experienced a lot of screw-ups is not very accurate. Prior to K7 they actually did quite well in battle, armed only with an inferior design.

As Intel discovered, pushing a slower design too hard is very dangerous, and makes the company look bad.

The current team appears a little slow to catch on.

It takes time to learn from your mistakes, but it appears they are having difficulty achieving the first step of learning from your mistakes: admitting they made one!
