Looks like the old Jewish Holidays trading maxim is lining up to work again this yr. For those who missed the link- Buy Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 30 this yr.), and sell Yom Kippur (2 weeks later).

An old trader pal told me this maxim several years ago. I didn't believe it at the time, but I watched over the next several years, and found it to be quite accurate. He said Jews actually control much of Wall St. They go into seclusion on Rosh Hashanah, thus relieving some selling pressure, and emerge from days of introspection on Yom Kippur with selling in mind. I also find it interesting that the Jewish holiday dates are based on the lunar calendar, and change yr. to yr.
