Oh yeah. It is NOT a mistake to call NTAP a software company. DW likes to call the NTAP products "tin wrapped software".

NTAP manufactures nothing. All components are off-the-shelf. Their mother boards are a special 3rd party fabrication, but they are stripped down versions of standard PC motherboards. Perhaps the NVRAM are special made, but that's not a big deal either. Their bezels are specially made, but that is not exactly high tech. NTAP does go to great pains to select and test sources, then do burn in of the assembled product.

Its the software running on proven, QA'ed hardware that makes the products.
