SAN FRANCISCO, Sep 26, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mediaplex, Inc. (Nasdaq:MPLX), a
leading advertising technology company, today announced the addition of
advertising industry innovators Philip Guarascio and Ira Carlin to its Board of
Directors. Guarascio was formerly Vice President of Advertising & Corporate

Additionally, Guarascio introduced the GM Card, which is now the world's
seventh-largest affinity card; managed the General Motors corporate brand to a

wide-ranging programs to make General Motors advertising across all divisions
more scientific and accountable.

"Mediaplex is delivering what advertisers want: accountability, speed and
flexibility. Mediaplex is making advertising an e-business," said Guarascio.
"The Company's MOJO(TM) technology delivers the information advertisers need to
optimize their messages, which has long been a goal of industry innovators. I'm
eager to bring what I learned at GM to help Mediaplex continue its advertising
technology leadership."

In addition to chairing Universal McCann, Ira Carlin is Executive Vice
President, Worldwide Media Director of McCann-Erickson Worldwide. His current
responsibilities include developing and overseeing media and business strategies
for Universal McCann and its multinational accounts. Universal McCann's
worldwide network, with annual media billings of more than $15 billion, spans
131 countries. Carlin is a pioneer in interactive advertising, having been
involved in interactive advertising experiments as early as 1990.

"Anyone who understands the future of advertising knows the potential of
Mediaplex to bring the entire industry into the digital age," said Carlin. "I'm
looking forward to helping Mediaplex fulfill that potential."

"Phil and Ira will give us the benefit of their unique experience and industry
insight as we continue to transform the advertising industry with our unique
technology product offerings such as MOJO," said Gregory R. Raifman, Chairman
and CEO of Mediaplex. "They have understood the promise of interactive
advertising for years, and we're honored to have them join our Board."
