MEERUT, SEPT 25: In a daring operation, six undertrial prisoners of the Deoband sub-jail were shot dead this morning by armed men when they were being taken to the district court at Saharanpur, 50 km away. One constable of the security team escorting them was injured and has been admitted to a Meerut hospital. Old enmity is said to be the motive behind the killings which occurred on the outskirts of Deoband town, famous as an Islamic seat of learning.

When have you ever heard of prisoners being killed on the way to court in Texas? Not recently, not even under Ma Richards. Lee Harvey Oswald was the last I guess.

Murali, I doubt if brutalizing, and physically mutilating women, makes the newspapers in India. Women have always been considered chattel in the society, and no one seems to think anything of it. BTW, why should one not consider terrorism when looking at crime in any country?? You are sidestepping the faults of your own country of origin. ~H~
