Newsweek article - The New War Over Oil

Interesting table says that in most European countries gas prices have actually declined over the last four years and really have not jumped that much recently. The UK is the exception. Prices there have gone from lowest to highest in Europe. I assume that is because the Brits have jacked up taxes while there must have been some reductions on the continent. Nothing else would explain lower prices with much higher crude.

D Grrl, Matt Simmons will spend this Thursday with CIA to assist in the preparation of an energy position paper for the new president-elect. Matt will be joined by 5 others smart folks, including David Knapp (remember him? - former head of the EIA? from which came the missing barrel info...Mr. Knapp is now said to be a proponent of improving the quality of oil data...ironic, huh?)
