I ponder that too when people talk about poverty and how "People should raise themselves up" or that "The poor are just not working hard enough". It is as if someone on top of a mountain is yelling to someone else on a ledge a 1000 feet below without a rope, "Come on. I'm up here. You can be too." What they don't tell you is THEY were put there by a helicopter in full technical gear. The poor bastard on the ledge was born there, in rags and is starving. But sure it's only a 1000 foot climb without gear. No problem. All you need is my God and you could get here if you just praised Him. We'll send in Sally Struthers and everything will be groovy.
