I'll tell you what i think is holding back MASSIVE Widespread deployment of E-commerce by MOM and POP Shops. It's not the ease of Interfacing an Interactive Database on the Web. It's not the cost of start-up (hardware and software) or the cost of getting a Merchant account. What i think the real limiting factor right now for AN ABSOLUTE explosion of MOM and POP ecommerce is Realiable and readily available Broadband. MOM and POP is not going to PAY 500-800 a month for Always on ISDN. they are not going to PAY for a CABLE modem that is down most of the time. They are not going to do a HOME business with a DSL line that isn't working most of the time. I'm within 30 days of disconnecting my 400-500 a month ISDN line for a DSL connection. that's 400 bucks a month decrease in monthly overhead. I'm just a typical MOM and POP Home Biz that wants to compete with any other WORLDWIDE Business Platform. And why not. Who says MOM and POP can't do it and come in at UNDER 10K at Start-UP. I'm telling you it can be DONE. I'm telling you that is one of the biggest myths about all of this stuff. I'm telling you that ColdFusion and products like it are what is going to empower this stuff going forward. I'm telling you the costs will continue to come down and the companies with MULTI billion dollar Market caps may have their market share chipped away. If i was them i would be pissed off and afraid right now. I would be BASHING the little companies that are trying to empower the MASSES going forward. I don't blame them. I would probably do the same thing. They smell blood and they smell pain and they are trying to Work it for all it's worth.
