First, the phrase is "pass muster". Secondly, Bork was the victim of politics, he was more than qualified for the position. Third, many of these people have awhile to go before retirement. Fourth, it is usual to find seasoned people, even retirees, to serve at the highest levels. Anyway, thanks for the input......

David, those you listed, regardless of age or position within their careers are infinately more capable of running the country than a bunch of liars and law-breakers. Also they happen to know that the country for the most part runs itself quite well if you get out of the way.
