Depends on what and when. When I was 7 I hunted with a BB gun except when we went to Southern Illinois, then I carried a shotgun with the shell in my pocket, ala Barney Fife. Started shooting a pistol at 7, went out with my dad and plinked with his Smith and Wesson K22 Masterpiece.

When I was 11 I had my own gun rack in my room. Only a shotgun and .22 rifle on it but I had access to my dad's pistol and often carried it when hunting rabbits. I never shot anybody or even thought about it in those days.
