Actually, it is an excellent defense. In local elections, information is frequently unavailable or requires a level of attention to obtain it that is not likely to be forthcoming from someone without much stake in an issue, for example, someone without school age children. One often ends up voting the party line or flipping a coin in consequence. In such a circumstance, voting is a comparatively low priority, and although I try not to miss an election, and have not for some time, I would not criticize someone with business requiring a good deal of travel..........
