Re: Only one person was brave enough to call an entry point on INTEL (INTC) anyone else, still interested in where you folks see the bottom at, use some logic.

Bruce,

I'm afraid it could be the $20's somewhere.

A lot depends on AMD earnings Oct 11th. I see two posibilities:

1) AMD misses, which is viewed as bad for the whole sector and INTC goes down.

2) AMD beats, which is viewed as AMD taking marketshare from INTC, so INTC goes down.

Look at how INTC has historically traded with its P/e ratio. There's still a lot of damage to be done, especially if we are entering (or are in) a bear market.

Why can't you do your own thinking?

Bruce, you may want to go thru the posts and you will see many that tell you they just bought in and at what price. I would assume that they thought that was the bottom or close to it. you could also look at that poster's profile and see if they are an Intel regular or one of the many many a-holes who have come here to gloat.
I have not added any and have no idea where the bottom is. it is not Intel that worries me so much as it is the market as a whole.

good luck, jim

Bruce, for your survey:

I sold a substantial number of April 40 Puts yesterday, at what I thought would be INTC's bottom. Hopefully, that will only turn out to be a tad off.

Bruce. Re: "still interested in where you folks see the bottom at, use some logic." My last purchase of Intel was in 1997 at $17.33, near the 52 week low. The PE was 16.7.

Assuming Intel makes $1.55 in 2000, a comparable entry point would be around $26 per share. At $30 per share, Intel's price would be close to 60% below the high, which is on the high end of the past 10 years.

I think for these prices to be realized there would have to be a general feeling of a prolonged slowdown in Intel's business, which I don't see yet, 'tho Kumar is trying his best.

Hi Bruce,

Bought a lot more INTC yesterday (sold some SUNW). Not sure where the bottom is though. I imagine it'll eventually occur : )
