You begged the question. Which time did Al Gore lie to us, When he said the US needs higher energy prices or lower -when he pushed release of those reserves positioned for defense of the nation?

This administration has been very outspoken against market manipulation. Perhaps I'm living in the land they designed - asking for that which they say they value. Is this just another lie from this administration, OK when they do it in one direction for some but not at other times?(remember the Summimoto copper case?)

Correct. In a serious drop, such as in 1987, gold stocks were treated just like any other stock and got hammered.
