???? Huh? NT uses purchases method and write down goodwill. This is nothing like what CSCO does.

So you don't like pooling because it doesn't show the actual cost including goodwill of the transaction over time (or perhaps at anytime). You don't like purchase method when they write down goodwill over a period of time.

Let's see.... how should a company account for an acquisition in your mind?

Bambs, take a look at Nortel's cash flows in the last two years. They have been getting consistently better, albeit they are still choppy, unlike Cisco's steady rise.

Forget about net income and EPS, that's an amateur's game. Look at oeprating cash flows.
