The market is in a hyper growth stage, and they control the architecture. There is a high switching cost to using some other company's product, KING--The Market leader, properly with a two-times lead or better over its closest competitor. If the lead shrinks too far, the king becomes a prince, and we have a kingless market. Because they lack architectural control, and because switching costs are low, they cannot force competitors onto the defensive the way Microsoft, Intel, or Cisco can. Compaq is a king. Seagate is a king of hard drives. A lot of study has been done on these stocks by the Gorilla and Kings thread. Thanks to the Porchers for your support! With that said: Looks like there is a whole lot of misunderstanding about what this porch is all about....... The header reads as follows: This is a safe house where friends of Voltaire can meet to discuss any topic that tickles their fancy. What's with all the questions as to some sorta standards this board meets.........if it tickles our fancy we are meeting it. We might cover some of the following and use some of the tatics at our individual discretion: 1. Gambling 2. Long Term Buy and Hold---You would probably be better off on the Gorilla and King board (be sure to read the book first) 3. Grab it this morning, sell it this afternoon 4. Maybe this is the OCOM of 2000, Maybe it is not. 5. Covered Calls 6. Options 7. Not interested in other boards. Let them do their thing, we will do ours. 8. No personal attacks. 9.
