Hi Bob,

Our servers determine the fastest connection via UDP. This is especially apparent when a connection is lost, or reset. After a "best" server is found and the user is connected, QCharts will poll the routers at approximately every minute to determine if a faster connection is available. Keep in mind this "ping cost" as we call it takes into account other factors like server load in addition to actual ping time. It does not however monitor packet loss at this time, so in theory you could have a fast connection by what the Continuum sees, but if that connection is dropping packets, then it might not be your best. Some users prefer to monitor their connection with a utility like Ping Plotter (http://www.pingplotter.com).
