It's merely a difference between US and Cdn GAAP. If CSCO were forced to follow Cdn GAAP, its earnings would make it look like a complete POS.

The write off of goodwill is a non cash expense. When investing in a company I think one has to look at the health of the business, the markets they play in and they're execution.

it may not be a cash expense but I think bull under estimate the real expense to shareholders. This merger mania will in the end get long term investors. Too much paper...too much hype and the insiders are the ones that really benefit. As for stock buy backs...they just scratch the surface of the shareholder value that is given away in employee stock options.

Good luck in this trading day...as usual...I'll be watching for the gap and fade.
