Lies? Or accusations of lies? Republicans or Democrats? I'd say most folks don't vote because they've become disenchanted by the system. Is this why Dick Cheney only voted twice during the past 16 elections? I doubt it. He was too busy going for the money, and didn't care whether he voted or not.

Interestingly, Cheney was up on politics sufficiently enough that he headed Bush's VP search committee. It's been written that Cheney didn't vote because he didn't know the candidates. So how'd he end up searching for VP candidates? Geez, you'd think a guy in that position would be able to intelligently determine who to vote for, even in a local election; certainly a Republican presidential primary--he voted in neither.

As I've been reading this thread so many distortive comments are heaped on the Democrats. Is what's below a case of Democrats heaping distortions on two heavy-duty Republicans? Lies...lies...lies...so many lies it gets to a point where writers don't even know what they're writing about so long as they have their accusation right, fanning the flames to no end.

Re: "WhopperAl said his mother sung a union lullaby song to rock him to sleep at night. The next day, we found out the song wasn't even invented until he 27 years old."

Mike: If you try to dissect every word, every phrase of the vice president, it'll get you nowhere. You have to think broader.

The vice president is campaigning in a biblical sense. He uses story-telling, metaphor and similie to make a point.

For instance, at issue here is not whether the vice president heard the song "Look for the Union Label ..." when he was a young boy. Obviously, other union anthems were sung in the Gore household, because the family has a long history of supporting the working man and working woman. So in this sense the vice president is the Real Deal, the Big Mac, not Whopper Al.

The issue here is which candidate will do more for the man who brings a lunch box to work every day? The clear choice is the Gore-Lieberman team.
