The adverts are a little lackluster so far.

We might come up with some better ideas here.

To highlight what a historical breakthrough this G* system is, why not a
balloon reading "Watson, come here, I need you!" (or whatever the first uttered telephonic words were) coming from two different places on the planet, via a satellite beam?

(I'm keeping my day job)

Globalstar Canada awarded National Master Standing OfferCanadian government departments and agencies get go ahead to purchase Globalstar satellite phones and services

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sep 27, 2000 (CNW via COMTEX) -- Globalstar Canada, a
satellite-based telecommunications system, today announced that it has been
awarded a National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) by Public Works and Government
Services Canada. As of today, various Canadian Government departments and
agencies can purchase Globalstar mobile satellite handsets for the support of
government satellite and telecommunications services.

"This is a significant agreement for Globalstar Canada and we are pleased to
have the opportunity to provide Canadian Government departments with satellite
phone services," said Peter White, general manager of Globalstar Canada. "With
Globalstar satellite phones, federal government employees will now have the
power to communicate virtually anywhere, anytime."

Globalstar's mobile satellite phone has already become an indispensable business
tool for Canadian resource industries such as oil & gas, mining, forestry, and
fisheries and Globalstar Canada anticipates that the same will be true for the
various government departments and agencies. The compact, light-weight feature
make the Globalstar phone an ideal communications solution for lodge owners,
hikers, hunters and fishers and anyone else in the leisure and outdoor industry.
Because of its reliable service, the satellite phone is being used by emergency
response officials such as firefighters, police officers and search and rescue
personnel serving remote communities.

With the Globalstar Canada National Master Standing Offer in place, the
government departments and agencies that need the Globalstar satellite service
can now deal directly with Globalstar Canada authorized dealers. The NMSO is a
convenient method of supply that saves the Canadian government time and money.
Purchase orders will now have a faster processing time because the paper work is
reduced and prices and terms have been settled in advance, avoiding further
negotiation. From the taxpayers' point of view, the advantages are lower
administrative costs and less need for government departments to carry
inventory.

Globalstar Canada Service

Globalstar service is designed to supplement cellular service, not replace it.
While cellular use is growing in reach every year, 90 per cent of Canada's
territory is still without comprehensive wireless coverage. Globalstar can fill
in the gaps where cellular does not exist or is "sketchy," and allows
communications access for those individuals regularly outside coverage areas or
who travel to places where phone service is not readily available.
